IBM thinkpad 770 battery problem

Hello all,
I have battery problem with my Thinkpad 770ED.
I left it on in easy setup and battery discharged. Now, battery wont charge and LCD on thinkpad shows 0%.
However, I charged battery from external charger and then Thinkpad
worked for 2 hours (like it was before) but LCD shows all the time 0%.
After this 2 hours, Thinkpad refuse to charge battery again.
As I was looking for this problem, I found out that electronic inside
battery 'memorized' that this is bad battery and therefore refuse to
charge it through Thinkpad. If this is true, how to 'reset' or say to
battery electronic that this is good battery (it worked again for 2 hours as before)? If this is not true, what
can I do to restore battery in normal function and charging through
Thinkpad? Is my problem connected with software (APM or bios)? Would
formating and reinstalling help?
Thank you all in advance and I apologize for my English as it is not my
native language,
Ivo
