390X multicolor orizonthal lines on screen

#1 Post by OMNIBUS » Thu Oct 22, 2009 1:42 pm

hallo
i have some lcd issue on my 390X TPs:
one of these when i boot the black color of screen, either during boot or during normal use with o.s. , becomes green ..dark green even if all works fine ; why? it is the inverter? the ccfl? the motherboard? or what? some ideas to solve?
the second 390X during the boot shows orizonthal multicolor lines on screen and nothing else; if i connect to a 2nd external screen all works and is showed fine; what could be the reason? even for this is an inverter issue? ccfl? or motherboard? or what?
any ideas about the reason of and how to solve issues of the two 390X....are very apreciated !
thankyou

I had a 390X years ago with the same problem. Re-seating the LCD ribbon cable did the job.

doh. Well, it was worth a shot. I've only had one 390 machine ever, and that was my only problem with it. :D

If it was an inverter or backlight problem, you would have a dark or pink screen. I still think that the problem may be with the LCD cable. Are both machines equipped with the same size LCDs? If so, try swapping the cables or entire lids.

390X #1: Try external monitor to see if there is any change.
390X #2: I'm guessing this one has a LCD ribbon cable problem. Vertical lines in the LCD are a sign of a bad panel.... yours are horizontal. The GPU seems fine (works on external).

If these ideas don't work, hopefully someone more knowledgeable will step in!
