thanks

Do you have a part number? I have a IBM 12v, but the system shuts off randomly I think thats the reason.

thanks

There are a whole bunch of part numbers (FRUs, in IBM-speak) for the 56W (16V, 3.36A) AC adapters. There's four of them in this parts list for a 600E:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... ZVLSQ.html (about half-way down, just past item #30)

If you can measure the output of the power supply or it does have 12VDC output on the label, then yes, that could be causing your problem. The 600 series requires the 16V supply. What was shipped with those systems was the 56W version; most newer systems came with a 72W design (4.5A) which can also be used with the 600s.

Arrgh, so I think the 12v also caused the included lithium battery to NOT charge. I thought it was bad and throw it away...

I think it needed 16V to "enable" the charge curcit..

oh well, didn't know better.

The voltage and current requirement is written on the bottom of the ThinkPad.
