Just an update on the progress on my Dads 600X. I have an Intel 2100 B miniPCI card that I tried in the 600X. It works! I found that despite being an older card and having a 1999 BIOS version this 600X recognized the WPA-PSK encryption our router broadcasts.
I'm happy. And my Dad is now happy also!
The only trip about this thing was the time it took to thread the antennae through the chassis and placing the antennae ends in the LCD housing. Tight space. The first thing I did was remove the 56k modem cable so I could use that path for the wifi antennae. I placed the antennae ends on the very top of the case. That's pretty much the only place there is a wee bit of room. Theres no way it will fit on the sides from what I could tell. The trim is just a tiny bit bulgy but I figure I can always fix that whenever boredom strikes again
I am in between semesters now so I have a little free time! Now just need a battery (can't flash BIOS w/o a working one), more memory, and a faster processor
