Hello, I recently have purchased a Thinkpad 600 off of ebay.

It has 192 MB of Ram, 266 Mhz CPU.

I plan to install Windows XP.

What sort of PCMCIA Wifi card will work with such old hardware? The oldest D-Links I can find say they need at least 300 Mhz.

Hi
Welcome to the forum. What model is it 600 or 600E. What do you plan to use it for.

I believe it is the 600. I just ordered it off of ebay and the seller stated it was a 600 but there is no way to be certain of its model until it arrives.

I plan to use it for reading and writing email in coffeeshops.

Just about any wifi card should work. The 600 has a 32-bit CardBus slot and that is what is still used today.

So something like this should work great (and is dirt cheap!)

With 192mb of ram it will run xp slowly. If you can find 2 sticks of 128mb pc66 I would suggest upgrading it. Or go with windows 2000 and leave the ram as is.

And I doubt it is a 600e as they shipped with 300mhz processors on up.
