I own a IBM ThinkPad 390X and it doesn't want to show a display and the fan don't spin. It powers on and the CD-ROM drive and floppy work and the Battery charges. It has no RAM and I know it doesn't show a display on some thinkPads like my R40, A30 and T20 they do a beep code but my 390X don't.

You need a stick of RAM for it to run, there is none on the motherboard.

If you add a good stick of PC66/100 and the screen does not work try the external monitor.

Does anyone know where I can find a IBM ThinkPad 390X plastic base "Houses the motherboard" as the base on the back corner is cracked and the LCD lid cannot close up or down since the scews that held the hing down is no longer fasen, have no choice to replace the bottom plastic base. Part number: FRU 08K5838
I found some but they want $130 online for it. PC Hub is the cheapest $13 plus $29 to ship, I'd like it to be $12 free ship. I asked some sellers on ebay.

Unless somebody here has one for parts, your best bet is to get another machine on ebay.

No beeps? Doesn't that mean the motherboard is dead?
