Battery Management on 600x?
Hi guys. Hoping everyone's Holidays are great! I've just received a battery for my Dads 600X and according to the Windows power manager it holds 100% of the charge. I want to have software that will start the charge at 85% and stop it at 90%
Is there any software that will do this for me? I've gone to Lenovo's site and don't see anything that will do it for the 600X. Any help would be appreciated!

Battery MaxiMiser should do the trick: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 44226.html

I don't know RBS, are you sure about that? I installed BMMPM on my 600X, and all that installed is "Fuel Guage", which shows the battery charge level. None of the battery maximizer features were installed. I just assumed it was because the 600X doesn't support those features.

Re: Battery Management on 600x?
I saw that Battery Maximiser and quickly downloaded it. I did not notice that note while I was installing but proceeded anyway. The Battery Maximiser doesn't give control with "stop charging" and "start charging" points. I do have NHC installed but don't think I saw an option for battery charging control. Must have something to do with the APM and ACPI?

Re: Battery Management on 600x?
I think it is rather because the 600X batteries themselves (or the 600X charging hardware on the motherboard) do not contain the circuitry necessary to read those things and so there is no way for software to control it.emeraldgirl08 wrote:I saw that Battery Maximiser [....] Must have something to do with the APM and ACPI?

Re: Battery Management on 600x?
I'm wondering if this software package would cause problems with the Sleep and Hibernate modes on the 600X under Win XP SP3? I inadvertently installed this without fully reading the limitations and my 600X doesn't seem to be able to exit Sleep and Hibernate properly.
Re: Battery Management on 600x?
perose > I don't think BMM will cause those problems. Sleep troubles usually go away once the proper graphics driver is installed. XP works so well with it's standard graphics driver that you may not have noticed that it's missing.
Edit: After thinking about this a little more it dawned on me that the 600X BIOS probably doesn't support Hibernation, and maybe not fully support sleep. I'm running W98SE on one of my 600X, and suspend to RAM works very well. Had XP installed for a little while and would use suspend with it then also.

Re: Battery Management on 600x?
Thanks for the reply! Good tip on the display driver. I'll see if that helps at all.
