760xd help. No Boot

I have recently dug out my old 760XD and found that it will not boot.

When I turn it on I get the normal fan noise and everything lights up on the keyboard LCD but on the screen I get:

048764 KB OK

on a black screen and thats as far as it goes.

The user guide trouble shooting says "Have the computer serviced."

It worked ok before I stored it and I stored it without the battery installed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd check the seating of the hard drive to be sure the connector was in its socket (since you pulled the battery you may have dislodged it) Can it boot from a floppy? Any "beeps" or further prompts from the screen?

re-seated the hard drive and no difference.

All I get is the memory test with the cursor blinking below it and nothing else. It just stops. No beeps, no other sounds or displays.

It wont boot from a floppy because it doesn't get that far.

It does charge the battery but that about all it does.

Sounds like a dead CMOS (RTC) battery.

Thank you James.

That confirms my suspicions.

I have a CMOS battery on order when it arrives I will let you know how I went.
