old 365e thinkpad 100mhz 8mb 540mb hdd

#1 Post by robcampman » Tue Feb 22, 2005 2:51 pm

Tomorrow i will buy a thinkpad 365e 100mhz 8mb 540mb hdd. It will cost me less then 25 euros (netherlands), because it has no adapter anymore. My question is: on what voltage and amperage does a powersupply need to run and where can i find the drivers for such an antiquity? The ibm site doesnt do me any good.

many thanks

rob from the netherlands

I found all kinds of driver's for my 755CD. What OS are you wanting to use?

For the power supply I would recocmmend looking on Ebay. There are a couple ebay stores that specialize in notebook parts.

I don't know what driver's you need for dos? You should be able to just install dos and go. With DOS your not going to need the PCMCIA slots.

As for Linux your not going to find any IBM developed driver's for such an old laptop. But surely someone made drivers for the video and socket services that will work with it. I have heard people using linux on these older laptops.

As for the Power Supply there are a bunch on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... eName=WDVW

If you want to use a different type of supply a 15 Volt one may work but it might be difficult to get a general purpose one that puts out 3.36 Amps. Most general purpose P/S put out 500 ma to 1 amp.

IBM Japan web site still keeps some files for TP365E.
http://www-6.ibm.com/jp/domino04/pc/sup ... J0-003A380
Here you can download
1:BIOS update
2:Audio driver for Win95
3:Shutdow service for WinNT4.0
I don't know if these files can be used for Dutch/English version
of windows or specific to Japanese version. But one thing I can say
for sure is, the read me files are written in Japanese.

Hope your good luck.
