Need older, small XVGA lcd screen for project
I am looking for an inexpensive 10" to 12" XVGA/XGA LCD display panel (and video card and power supply) for a project. A standalone LCD monitor would be best but not available in that size (or very expensive). I could convert a laptop and this could be the least expensive route. I need some suggestions for laptops to look for. I am posting in this forum because I am looking for the least expensive solution which would mean an older laptop. Processor and RAM are irrelevant. (Feel free to suggest other brands too.)
Thanks.
Rodger
Thanks.

12inch hmmm probably have a couple 8's but they are in working vintage machines. would something from a 760 series work for you? hate to kill working machines but I have several dozen. guess I wouln't mind killing a 760L too much LOL

Re: Need older, small XVGA lcd screen for project
What I am trying to do is make an LCD panel for use on an overhead projector so that I can use it in class to project my lessons from the laptop to a screen. Proxima Ovation series or Sharp DA series lcd overhead panels are what I am looking to imitate. (I have been trying to get one on Ebay and other places but have not found anything in my price range. Yes, I know that I could get a computer/video projector but I can't afford to spend the $$$ to get a good one that will have a good picture with the lights on. Overhead projectors are available at the school that are bright enough.)
The overhead projectors have a viewing area on the platen of about 10" square. A 10" - 12" 4:3 screen would work well. An 8" would mean that I would have to pull back the overhead projector to get it big enough and it would not be a bright. [I teach at an alternative school in an old YMCA in huge community room. Imagine five teachers with (thankfully) small classes of behaviorally challenged students all in one room with a few 5' tall bookcases to provide some delineation between classes. I need more tech tricks and other visual techniques to help hold their interest longer. I will eventually expand this setup into a huge "Smartboard" using Wii remotes and infrared pens, but that's another post.]
I did get a NEC MobilePro 880 with a 10" screen for really cheap, but my wife saw it and fell in love with the little thing, so I am trying to update Windows CE 2.11 to do today's tasks... grrrrr... keeping the peace at home... lol. This display was only 800x600, so it was exactly what I wanted, but it was very inexpensive. I was hoping to find something like a 770 or 600 series or older that would work. I do have an old 770 basic model that I was going to try to use once I get it back from my dad. (He borrowed it for a prop for his Santa visits that he does for children in hospitals during Christmas time. He is out of state, so I won't see him for a while.) It is also a 14" screen which may be too large but I figured I would try it anyways.

I have a complete lid with bezel, LCD, hinges and cable from a 760E or 760X. It's 12.1" and works AFAIK.
LCD looks very nice. I have no machine to test it on though.
Yours for $10.- shipped.
PM me if interested.
