Port replicator and laptop: do USB ports work together?

#1 Post by BigCatAndy » Thu Feb 24, 2005 4:13 am

Hello!

Yesterday I got my port replicator for 600x. When testing the USB ports, I found that they didn't work together. If I insert a USB device in both of them at the same time, I cannot read them.

Do I have really 2 USB ports, or just 2 slots for 1 single USB channel?

Thanx,
A.

I have my 600X in a SelectaBase 600. I just started doing a HotSync with my PDA with the USB port on the base and plugged in a thumb drive into the USB port on the 600X. Both worked fine at the same time.

Thanks for the information! I will check once more...

USB ports

#4 Post by wa8yxm » Thu Feb 24, 2005 5:20 pm

Thogh I normally use one of the ports on my 600E just to provide power to some speakers (which claim a much higher power rating than the port can possibly deliver, but still work, softly) I have in fact used the two ports for "other stuff" such as a mouse and an external memory at the same time.

I've even plugged in 2 more ports via a Cardbuss card and used all 4 at once but that is, of course, not your question

Everything is OK

#5 Post by BigCatAndy » Sat Feb 26, 2005 1:53 pm

Hello everybody!

Everything is OK, yesterday I tested both ports again. With Philips Keyring 019 and digital camera it worked properly.
I suspect, the reason for the earlier fault was the USB stick. I have already encountered several problems with it.

In any case, thanx for all hints!

Ciao,
A.
