SATA hard drive to ide adapter!?

Has anyone here ever used one of these?

The thin SATA drives (240, some 300's, 5x0/600) are available up to 640 gig now, and the thick ones (some 300's? 700 series) up to 1TB!

Now we *really* need a list of maximum drive capacities for all ThinkPads, with the latest BIOS.

I considered the same thing, the HDD's would stick out but then I started thinking hmmmm new doors that stick out like the wwan antessas... I'm sure with a drive overlay you could get any size to work.
native? lots of older ones topped out at 8GB.

One of the pictures shows it on a drive. It doesn't look like it would stick out much, if any.

I've heard overlay drivers don't work wit extremely large drives. Is that true? If not, what overlay do you recommend?

I've thought about putting one of these in a 15" T4x/R5x machine and modifying the HDD cover. Since there's a gap of about 3/4" between the cover and the drive itself, it might work with a simple modification.

If you click on the link to eBay, you will see the seller's picture at the top, and 4 little pictures at the bottom. Click on the 4th little picture and you will see this adapter on a SATA drive. From what I can see, this adapter will fit in a 240 with very little modification, and in a 600E with room to spare.

haven't used one in years, sure I can dig up a couple but the names all escape me, part was one used to use but it's so old I don't think it sees over 8GB LOL
