Thinkpad 560E dies after a few minutes

I just got a 560E, the thing dies after about 20 minutes, and the I can restart it but the run time then gets shorter. I ran all the system checks, I'm thinking it's the DC card as it doesn't light up when the system is running, and the battery is dead.

I don't know very much about laptops but my guess would be that the processor is overheating. I have had several pc's that acted just like yours is, and what I found was that the heat sink for the processor was not in very good contact with the processor, and thus was overheating. I hope this helps.
