PIII 700 MHz from IBM TP T20 - compatible with 600x?

#1 Post by BigCatAndy » Sat Feb 26, 2005 2:04 pm

Hello everybody!

A friend of mine is replacing CPU of his TP T20: PIII 700 MHz. Can anybody tell me, if I could replace my CPU - PIII 450MHz - with this one?

Thanx in advance,
A.

In future, please don't post the same question in more than one Forum.

OK. I didn't expect to get reply that fast. I will remove my post in the "T"-related forum.

No. Your board will handle a mmc-2 500mhz CPU.

His 700 is a mpga2 CPU which is quite a bit different. :(

OK, thanx for the replies.

But what do you mean with "Your board will handle a mmc-2 500mhz CPU."? Can I install a CPU with higher (than 500 MHz) frequency?

I was going to buy a 650 MHz MMC2 CPU at eBay. Will my 600x handle it?

For me it doesn't make any sense to spend money for 500 MHz CPU, because nobody will see a diffrence between 450 MHz and 500 MHz.

Your unit is not designed to handle the 650mhz.
