[760el] Boot from lan

#1 Post by TiTaN_pi8 » Sun Mar 13, 2005 7:08 am

I've got a Thinkpad 760el and a 16bit PCMCIA network card (D-link DFE670TXD). Is it possible to make the thinkpad boot from my lan?

Maybe with a different network card?

There is an option to boot from network and PCMCIA in the bios but I don't know if the system can recognize my network card without an OS (and drivers...)

Thanks a lot!

My 750P also has a boot from network option. Most boot from network uses the PXE protocol. I don't know of any PCMCIA NICs that have that technology, but I would bet that if IBM offered boot from network then at least they offered one card that would do the job.

Finding it after so many years could be difficult, but I would be very interested in learning more about this option.
