ThinkPad 390 CPU Upgrade

#1 Post by lilserenity » Tue Mar 15, 2005 8:39 am

Hiya,

Slowly getting around all my emails and chores I need to do!

A quick note to say that the 2626-2UK Pentium 233MHz MMX based 390 appears to be from my experience upgradeable to a Pentium II MMC-1 based CPU without any issues.

I obtained a 266MHz PII for next to nothing purely to see if it would work (opposed to hoping for a performance boost! ;) ) and it works just fine and needed no extra cooling arrangements.

So that's a thumbs up from me on that one.

My next trick will be to install a PIII MMC2 into a 390E motherboard ;)
