Looking for Transnote parts

#1 Post by nicotean » Thu Dec 30, 2010 4:35 pm

Hi everybody,

I just fixed my Transnote that had the 0175 CRC error, and now I'm remounting it, but I lost some parts and some other parts aren't in good shape, so I need some new ones, but I can't find them on Ebay or on any other site (and I live in France btw, so sometimes shipping isn't available).
I'm looking for :

- screws !
I'm lost with the screws references, but the HMM states that I need :
- M2.5 × 4 mm, nylon-coated, torque : 39.2 Ncm (4 kgfcm)
- M2.5 × 16 mm, nylon-coated, torque : 39,2 Ncm (4 kgfcm)
- M2.0 × 3.5 mm, nylon-coated, torque : 24.5 Ncm (2.5 kgfcm)
(the FRU of the whole screw set is 04P3291)
- the left hinge of the screen (it is included in the laptop base, FRU 08K6483, but I'd like to avoid buying the whole base)
- eventually, the base plate, FRU 08K6496

Thanks a lot in advance !

Thanks for the answer.
I already took a look at laptopscrews, but I don't know if all the M2.5x4 screws have the same torque. Will any M2.5x4 screw fit ?
I took a look the Transnote plate on ebay, but the shipping to France is costly (39$), I think I'll stay with mine. Actually, the biggest problem I'm having is that one of the two screen hinges is missing.
I also know transnote.info, this website is really amazing, I found a lot of things there

Never mind the torque.
As long as the screw fits, you are fine.
Just check that the 'thickness' of the screw head is OK.
France being metric, I'm surprised you can't find the proper screws in a decent hardware/electronics store.
For the hinge, take the other one out, then go to a polytechnic school, and ask if the teacher/pupils can make you one (usually they do that for free as an 'exercise').
Or try a machine shop for fine metal work.

Thanks for the info about the screws, I'll order them as soon as possible :)

I thought about that too for the screen hinge, I'll ask my teachers tomorrow about that (I have some industrial lessons in my current university).
