getting geexbox cd bootable divx mediaplayer workin with 600

#1 Post by cure » Sun Mar 20, 2005 11:08 pm

I have tried without a lot of success to get the geexbox cd bootable divx mediaplayer working with the tp 600.

The normal load from cd locks up or, for some 600 user's, is slow beyond belief. The debug mode gets to the final screen but only flashes it for instances of a second punctuating a black screen. It is freeware at:

As there is no Windows to load, I thought it might not be especially CPU intensive and thus a good solution for the slower tp 600's.

It is way beyond my linux skills to tweak it properly.

Any one successfully played with it?

Thanx,

cure

Looking at the geekbox requirements, they say a 400MHz P2 should do the job. The fastest CPU in the 600 is a 300MHz PII, but that shouldn't stop it from booting.

What might make the display not work is that geexbox requires a VESA 2.0 compliant video card. Your 600 might not have one... or it might.

In any case, the 600 is probably not a good platform for that software.
