TP 600 system board errors

#1 Post by lenji58 » Mon Feb 14, 2011 10:11 am

Hi folks new guy here and I need help. I have 2 600's 2645's and both give 161 163 192 error codes. I changed the CMOS bat and now only 192 error code. I go into test mode and run system board diagnostic and get 3 error code for the system board. They are 001, 91 and 3610 on both machines!! identicle error codes. Does anyone know what gives? These 2 units were given to me so I dont have any history on them. :(

Welcome to the forum! Too bad you had to come here because of troubles, though. Here is the list of 600 series error codes and their cause:

Collection = T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - T61 (14.1" SXGA+) - T60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P - 600E

Neil,

I think the three error codes that are being reported by the OP are ones from the built-in diagnostic (in BIOS). As such, those error codes are not listed in the page your referenced since those are generated from boot errors. The Hardware Maintenance Manual for the 600/600E says this for the three diagnostic error codes:

DEV 001: System board
ERR 91: Unfortunately, the HMM does not describe any specific error code numbers
FRU 3610: Suspected devices are FRU 36 (battery pack) and FRU 10 (System board)

My guess would be that the battery pack(s) is(are) kaput. If the system otherwise boots an OS, then try a new battery.

If you are still getting the 192 error code after changing the CMOS battery, I'd double check that the battery is outputting 3V and looks like the middle one in this picture: http://www.kawakami-ca.com/images/02k65 ... 2k6715.jpg If the battery checks out, then do you hear the fan spinning when the system is turned on?
