380 series battery compatibility ?

#1 Post by oxygen14 » Wed Mar 02, 2011 6:57 pm

Since different battery sellers are not clear enough, are there compatibility lists somewhere to check which batteries P/N's are supported on my 380ED type 2635-5A0 ? Original one is FRU 73H9951 ASM 73H9861. Can it be replaced with 73H9952 ?

Ni-MH battery 73H9952 does not work. After charging, status falls from 100% to 80% right after pulling the plug, then thinkpad runs for 5 minutes before shutting down as if the battery was empty. Switching OS from Win Me to FreeBSD 4.9 did not change battery behavior. I will try to get a refund for the battery. May the power management hardware be faulty (damaged by dead original battery) and should I use only an external power adapter, or can I safely buy a (bit more expensive) Li-Ion 73H9951 ?
