Fan/CMOS/Power - Help!

#1 Post by yodap » Fri Mar 25, 2005 3:30 pm

I'm working on a IBM Thinkpad 600 for a buddy of mine. It kept getting 172, 192, and 163 errors at boot-up, pointing to the fan and CMOS battery. I opened it up just to check things out. Reseated the fan and CMOS battery connections, closed everything up. Now when I power it on the fan kicks on, laughing at me, because power doesn't seem to be getting to everything else. I unplugged the fan and it sounds like the hard drive is spinning if I put my ear up to it. The screen is black, cd-rom will not eject(no power). Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

Uhm... I suggest you replace the CMOS battery ASAP.

That often takes care of a raft of odd behaviors.
