Can you check out his previous buyers, contact them and ask if their batteries are still working good...?

I figured somebody here probably purchased one and would know.

I've never purchased one of the ones you are looking at, but they probably are not as good as an original way back when they were new, but have got to be a lot better than a now dead original.

Re: Are these new 600 batteries any good?
I think they are re-fills.
If they're indeed genuine, then maybe it's better to avoid them because, AFAIK, lithium rechargeable ages no matter what. And I think the last genuine ones have been produced long time ago.
Cheers.

If you have some time look through the Seller's Feedback on e-Bay. That may give you an indication of how happy other buyers were with their purchase.
Edit: The link below is for the Seller's Feedback. I reviewed the first six pages of the Seller's Feedback ratings and didn't see any 600 batt sales. Possibly this is a new item that was posted.

Re: Are these new 600 batteries any good?
Or very few people buy 600 batteries these days...
I'm not sure if it's feasible, because eBay doesn't show the details after some time, but it would help if you can talk to those who've purchased and used it for 6-12 months. From my limited experience, low quality re-fills generally fail after 12-month, either by not working or a by holding a much lower charge.
Cheers.

Re: Are these new 600 batteries any good?
May I kindly say that 45 minutes to an hour's use from a BRAND NEW battery seems poor indeed. I would expect at least 1.5 to 2 hours stable charge from a NEW battery of this size, even an inexpensive aftermarket one. I would keep searching for a better deal than that. I sell batteries myself so I'm very interested in this topickenzking wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 1083wt_873

New Old Stock or Used & holding a good charge is the way to go when it comes to batteries for these older IBM laptops, and they certainly do better than 45 minutes to an hour
One question: What is this "bad memory problem" you are referring to? Are you saying the original O.E.M. Thinkpad 600 batteries had performance issues and would die prematurely? I think I remember reading something about that somewhere, but I don't recall the specifics. Can anyone elaborate on that issue? One thing I can say is that most of the Thinkpad 600, 600e or 600x laptops I've purchased had completely dead O.E.M. batteries or O.E.M. batteries holding a modest 10 minute to 30 minute charge.
But if a New Old Stock 600 battery can be trusted to perform, here's a deal for one, Factory sealed that you can jump on: http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-12J2464-THI ... 3a698b6ef2 The seller doesn't have a lot of feedback so proceed at your own risk. However, if you check his Feeback carefully you find that he sold one just like this already and got a Positive:) If it is indeed New Old Stock, factory sealed in the IBM Options box, you may just have to give it a charge for at least 12 hours overnight and may have a great deal on your hands.
Has anyone purchased Thinkpad 600 batteries from this Ebay seller? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Batter ... 19c7d417d6 He claims Brand New, "genuine, original", with a 1 year warranty. Are these authentic I.B.M.? If so, are they manufactured recently (2010,2011) or New Old Stock from years ago? If they are indeed authentic and genuine IBM batteries then this seems like a good deal and I would certainly go for these versus an aftermarket battery which gives me only 45 minutes to an hour of usage. The seller's feedback on these "genuine, original" batteries sure seems to be good. One question for the experts here: Are there certain manufacturers in China officially commissioned/licensed by IBM/Lenovo to manufacture NEW batteries for the Thinkpad 600 and other older laptops and put the IBM name on their product? ARE THESE BATTERIES FROM THIS SELLER GENUINE IBM? I really want to know. Someone buy one please, and post photos of it. The seller's photos show the genuine IBM logo, but I know many Chinese/Hong Kong sellers on Ebay use the original OEM IBM photos but then send you an aftermarket, non-OEM product.

Re: Are these new 600 batteries any good?
From what I have found online the original 600 series batteries were plagued with really bad memory issues. From what I found out it was some sort of design flaw in the batteries control board/charging circuit. Maybe they fixed it with newer versions of the battery, I really don't know. I'd probably not reccomend buying a used 600 series battery because of this.
I don't use my laptop on the battery often, its almost always plugged in I just wanted a cheap working battery.
If I dim the screen and run my 600x @ 700mhz I could probably get well over an hour. I really haven't tested how long it lasts exactly. I thought I'd low ball my estimate in case anyone bought the same brand and expected too much.
With the internal mini pci wifi card on, at 850mhz and the screen on full bright I'm pretty sure it won't go over an hour. But then again its drawing allot more watts then it did from the factory.

Yes, there were issues with the Thinkpad 600 batteries, and I am not sure that those issues were ever fully resolved. The best resource for understanding what the issues were is still available here:Thinkpad Lover wrote:One question: What is this "bad memory problem" you are referring to? Also, for more information than most people will ever need to know about Lithium-Ion batteries, I would check out Battery University:

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the various links to batteries for sale on eBay.
