Alternate function for Spacebar ? (ThinkPad Edge E125)

#1 Post by sufehmi » Mon Feb 06, 2012 10:00 am

Simple question & no rush whatsoever - just curious, next to the right of the ALT button, there's some sort of lamp symbol on the Spacebar keyboard :

Question: if we press Fn button + Spacebar, what will happen ?

This may be seen as a very stupid question :) however :

(1) I'm using Linux on this laptop = doesn't use Windows = not using ThinkPad's keyboard driver = therefore, Fn + Spacebar when pressed doesn't cause anything to happen

(2) I couldn't find any mention of that button in ThinkPad Edge E125's User's Guide.

Thanks in advance :)

that icon is for the keyboard backlight. While not all thinkpad's were equipped with them, most thinkpads still have the icon printed on the spacebar (mine included).

Thanks PowerTrader ! I was guessing that as well - and was hoping that it's actually there and can be activated some other ways :D I knew I was hoping too much, but nothing to lose there :D

Anyway, still a very cool machine even without backlight. Already abusing it in many ways - installing virtual machine (proxmox) on virtual machine (virtualbox), for example :D opening tens of browser windows simultaneously, while coding & debugging, etc.
This is one very powerful machine indeed.

Thanks again.

cheers,
Harry
