Intermittent boot failure when external USB HDD is connected

Hello! I have a new ThinkPad Edge E120. I'm having problems booting up (around 7 times out of 10) when my 4TB external Seagate drive is connected to a USB port. I just get stuck at the POST screen. Any ideas? Thank you.
