Adding WWAN to E430 3254 ACU

I have pondered the idea of adding WWAN capability to my unit. Cursory examination suggests that there is a SIM slot hidden by the battery but I am unsure if the SIM slot is wired.

Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated ...
