New chassis for an e320

I own an e320 because I thought it was a classic rugged thinkpad but it turns out it is actually complete rubbish. The plastic case is completely cracked and destroyed; my cheap HPs held up better than this computer. So my question is... My computer looks exactly like Thinkpad, was there a real thinkpad version of this computer? I would like to swap all the guts out of this computer and into a new case with the real alloy chassis that is indestructible. Maybe I can get an unworking model with a good chassis from ebay.
Thanks for any help, Kyle

there is no equivalent alloy chassis on the market. There is a reason why the ThinkPad E320 is cheap, you should of got the X220 instead. But i have been using my ThinkPad E320 for a while now, and the chassis has held up pretty good.

The funny thing is I bought a Thinkpad specifically because I wanted something durable after damaging several other laptops. The salesman never told me that they watered down the line and the Thinkpad was no longer the business machine that I used in the '90s. So the X220 is smaller than mine (12.5" vs 13.3") and a case swap is impossible... I hear what you are saying and my hopes are now dashed! There really is no other 13.3" alloy chassis that would work from any year of the Thinkpad line?
