Software installation doesn't proceed
Hey dear thinkpad users,
My first post, hope I do everything right.
Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E330; Windows 7 , 64 bit;
My problem:
To activate my Internet, I have to use a setup on a CD which activates the WIFI of my router, or enables me to use the Wifi of my router.
Because my laptop doesn't have an cd-player I used an external one. The setup screen pops up and I can proceed to the next window via clicking continue. But then after clicking the next button the window vanishes and nothing more will happen.
I tested this on another computer, with the same external cd-player. It worked. The window vanishes and another one pops up.
It is a japenese software / Cd / internet.
I bought my lenovo thinkpad in Germany.
I tried to change the region in my control panel to Japan but it didn't help.
I tried to use the adminstrator mode but it won't even show the first window.
I don't have any other device to do the setup with at my home, the computer was the one at work.
If somebody has any suggestions I will be very very thankful.
With best regards from tokyo,
easelu

Re: Software installation doesn't proceed
Welcome to the forum.
That is the strangest wifi setup I have ever heard of!
Do you have another PC or laptop to run that CD from?
After all, you are supposedly only 'activating wifi' on the router.
Most routers have an IP address of 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, which you can enter in any browser.
You'll need to be connected via ethernet cable to your router for this.
If the router has a password, it will ask for it (check the bottom of the router for info).
Once in, you can then activate wifi manually.

Thanks for the reply!!
No, I don't have anyother PC or laptopt to fun that CD from..
.
I could access the router via 192.168.1.1 either with ethernet or wifi. So the wifi - connection works so far but it won't let me connect to anypage.
Because the interface is all in japanese i have no idea what to do with that.
I could post some pictures but think that won't help you guys.

Trying to get a japanese friend to help me out with it.
If there are any other suggestions, maybe to get the CD to fully would be awesome.
best regards,
Luis

The router may need a user name and password from your internet provider. To me from the first image it looks like you have DSL internet which needs a user name and password to connect to your internet provider. Your internet provider may be of some help with what is required of your router.

Re: Software installation doesn't proceed
If all else fails, buy another router with English (or German) instructions/manual.
I'm sure NTT also sells to Westerners, so presumably they must have some other-language instructions...

Re: Software installation doesn't proceed
hey guys
,
Thanks for the replies.
Yes, i have an user id and an access key which I should use with the CD-setup. (according to the manuel which i got more or less trasnlated by a coworker).
But I can't find a place where to use it with 192..
Going to try to get another person to help me set this up with their device.
Greetings,
Luis
