How to reset Edge E420 without Disks or Windows

In my pawnshop adventures we have acquired a Thinkpad Edge E420, ew.
Anyways, someone attempted to reinstall windows, with an illegal version, we obviously can't sell it like that.
The recovery partition is still there, and the old windows install is still available in the windows.old directory. Trying to run the recovery program from the partition says it is missing files. Trying to boot to the old OS from the windows boot menu states it cannot load a file. Setting the recovery partition to active in hopes of booting from it results in it saying Bootmgr is missing.
I would like to do this the easy way and get it to factory restore on its own, how do I get this working again?
