e560 screen bright enough for working outdoors?
e560 screen bright enough for working outdoors?
hey guys,
i'm trying to find out if the screen in lenovo e560 is bright enough for working outdoors.
for me it is legit as long as it's possible to view the content comfortably enough.
anyone here owns e560 and is willing to post a picture of the screen in full brightness in a bright environment? (on a sunny day, in the shade / near an open window)?
thanks

Re: e560 screen bright enough for working outdoors?
PSREF lists the E560 with 220 nits for the HD display, and 250 nits for the FHD display. Neither is bright enough for outdoor use or in direct sunlight. 400 nits is usually a starting point.
Current Thinkpads: W530 (functional classic keyboard mod), X301, T61, T60, T43, A31p, T23, 600X, 770

Re: e560 screen bright enough for working outdoors?
Thanks,
i had e540 with 300 nits and it did pretty well (on a sunny day, in the shade).
notebookcheck tested the FULL HD version.
brightness average: 234 nits, contrast: 952:1 (color representation is mediocre at best).
from the pictures taken in the outdoor test, it seems like it may be possible to work outside (but it's not clear if the pictures were taken on a sunny or a cloudy day).

Re: e560 screen bright enough for working outdoors?
There probably aren't many people on this forum who have experience with E560 models since most (I think) of the users on this forum use Thinkpads from the T/W/X line (especially pre T430 models). I have a W530 with FHD display that puts out about 270 nits. In the shade under a tree, there usually isn't too much of a problem. Out in direct sunlight or even at an angle, it is difficult to see text/images, even at close ups. The increased contrast ratio on the E560 FHD vs W530 display may make things a bit easier, but I doubt it would make readability significantly better.
