E560 Screen Goes Black After Long Idle, Must Reboot

#1 Post by J Walker » Sun Nov 12, 2017 10:31 am

When I leave my E560 Thinkpad idle for 20 minutes or so the screen goes black and I cannot awaken it and must hold the power button down and restart. This is annoying. Is there any way to prevent this or to find a key that restores the screen? Thanks.

FWIW my laptop is an E570. I hope someone has the answer for this.

Have you asked at the Thinkpad subreddit? https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/ I'm afraid there's not many owners or users of E560/570 around here.

Even on Reddit there rarely are any posts about the Edge.
Your best bet is probably the Lenovo forum, but if it's still under warranty, send it in and let them worry about it.

Seems to be a standard Lenovo problem with Windows upgrades...

Thanks for the replies. It is still under warranty and I can try to get some help there. The Thinkpad warranty used to provide good technical support as well as factory repair. After my last call I found little tech support but their factory repair was still excellent. The E570 with an i7 processor and SSD is fantastic. I found my way to it because of price and then was very impressed by its performance.

Hi,
I am facing the same problem whit the same model, so you had to send it to repair in order to get this issue fixed?

Do you know if the source of the problem was a hardware issue?

Thank's
