(031926U - Edge 15) Can't get WiFI To Install Right On Windows 7 x64

#1 Post by tik34Load » Tue Dec 08, 2020 4:45 am

I installed windows 7 pro. I had to go to the EOL portal at Lenovo to get the graphics drivers and then I grabbed every driver under the wireless LAN category. So far, NONE of the drivers for the wireless LAN are working and I'm only left with the ability to connect by ethernet. I even tried downloading System Update to see if it would find the driver I need, but it only showed an update for the ethernet LAN. :x

Did you install any chipset-drivers yet?
Also, go to the wifi-card mfg-site (Intel or RTL) to get their drivers.
If that machine has a wifi-whitelist, the best card would be Intel 6300N.
If not, get an Intel AC-7260 such as this: https://www.ebay.ie/itm/303239756571
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
Lenovo: X240, X250, T440p, T480, M900 Tiny.

PS: the old Boardroom website is still available on the Wayback Machine

I installed the chipset drivers through System update, but that didn't make a difference. I eventually recalled the name of the device that showed when I used Linux and googled the drivers under that name. I ended up landing on a Lenovo page for Wifi drivers for a different model Edge series and just downloaded and installed what was there.

Dunno why the drivers listed on Lenovo's page for my model didn't work, but the one I downloaded worked like a treat.
