How to get rid of battery validation for E540?

#1 Post by nick_spender » Thu Apr 21, 2022 8:48 am

Hi!
I bought an offbrand battery for my Lenovo E540 and can't use it. Laptop just won't charge it.
I managed to find a keyboard patch that also fixes this problem, but it seems to be working only for X230 and some T-series models.

Maybe someone knows how to get rid of battery check?

Assuming that battery has the same connector as a T440/T540 battery, get an external charger like this: https://support.lenovo.com/ie/en/soluti ... vice-parts
It will do the trick.
I have used one of those for all batteries for R60/T60/X60 through to xx50.
AFAIK it should still work up till xx80.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

Thank you, that is an interesting solution, although not a convenient one. I'l think about it.
But still, if someone knows how to patch bios to stop battery check from happening - I'll be glad to hear a solution.

Got an update on my situation. Today I received the same third party battery, as the first one, exactly the same. But somehow this one was ok for my laptop and now it's fully works.

Thank you for your time reading this post, and my apologies for... well, you know, horrible ugly situation...
