E440 Passes All Diagnostics But Fails to Boot to OS
I recently got a E440 20C5-004YUS in a lot of ThinkPads. Thing's basically junk but I do want it to work to some capacity.
Now the problem I'm having here is that like the subject says, the laptop passes all diagnostics but for some reason, when I try to boot into an OS, it shuts off and gives me two flashes of the indicator lights.
I've tried the ram but it still does the same thing.
If anyone has any idea what this could mean, that would be great.
My guess is that it's F-ed.

Have you tried another HDD/SSD?
They only take SATA, not NVMe.

Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!

Does the battery still work? Have you checked the processor and heatsink?

Sorry for the delayed response
Yes I have tried with different SSD, same issue and it was SATA
The battery does not work. I have changed the thermal paste and it seemed the heatsink was applying even pressure. Not checked the CPU because I don't want to spend any money on it.

Try removing the WiFi card--heck, any device that can be removed and not affect the OS boot sequence.

Re: E440 Passes All Diagnostics But Fails to Boot to OS
Sadly, nothing worked
Few days ago, I reduced the thing down to a motherboard, a power button, and a ssd but it still did the same thing.
Since then, I've put the thing back together and repurposed it's remains to be an elevating slab for my desktop that was sitting on the carpet.
It is doing that job very well and my temperatures on my desktop have dropped by about 3-5C
If you really think about it though I have achieved my goal...
Might wanna steal some parts from it in the future.
Those screws are looking mighty fine

Although, instead of it working as a laptop, it's working as a slab of plastic.

Why is my P1 Gen 7 so much better on battery? Cool, quiet, fast — but not on AC.
