"Lenovo Non-Thinkpad" Thinkpad Edge?

What gives with Lenovo's Thinkpad Edge being located under "Lenovo Non-Thinkpad"? Does a MODERATOR index this Forum or
a subjective enthusiast? Isn't this like a political debate "MODERATOR" (word is similar to referee) tossing a politcal candidate into an off corner
because the Republican and the Democrat argue over the fella is a real left or right candidate, or a baseball referee wearing a Tigers uniform?

A forum moderator, it seems to me, should be akin to an compendium reference book editor or an encyclopedia editor, neutral in the opinion debates. This is sort of like a public librarian assigning books he doesn't like to the "Crap" section isn't it?

If a Moderator is moderating, shouldn't he do accurate real world indexing? Lenovo Edge is a consumer class Thinkpad. Why not do what
Lenovo does? Index the Thinkpad Edge as a consumer Thinkpad?

I am a business class Thinkpad enthusiast. I still use everyday a Thinkpad T-60 and I keep my old T-23 operational for a relative. I also use an Edge.
I've used and done maintence on many major brand laptops (for other people) over the past 30 years. I'd take my Thinkpad Edge over any other brand name consumer laptop any day. The quality build, the intelligent design is superior, in my personal opinion, that anything out there for under
$550.

Am I the only person here who finds this entire "it isn't a real Thinkpad" thing just a little silly?

Well, for starters Moderators have nothing to do with creating forum categories, Admins do that. We can make 'suggestions' just like any other member can though. So how would you define 'Administrator' given the fact that the site owner is one of them? You may want to carefully select your language here ...

No, you are not.

I'm with you. It says Thinkpad right here on the palm rest. Of course there are also those that think if it says Lenovo it's not a REAL Thinkpad. I'm guessing Lenovo calls anything with a trackpoint a Thinkpad. My opinion of thinkpads.com has also diminished because of this. Now the X1 is also fallen from the Admin's grace.

I sort of agree with the Admins in that I feel these aren't conventional Thinkpads, but calling them non-Thinkpads is too extreme. Instead, I would put them under "unconventional Thinkpads", or "quasi-Thinkpads", or perhaps "pseudo-Thinkpads".

I do feel that Lenovo is a little misleading by calling the Edge "Thinkpads". These are budget models that are analogous to HP's ProBooks and Dell's Vostros. If HP and Dell called them "EliteBooks" and "Latitudes", they too would be criticized for being dishonest.

True, but neither is the X100 series, and those aren't listed here as non-Thinkpad Thinkpads.
