Mic and sound problems with Conexant 20671 SmartAudio HD

Hey guys!

I got my thinkpad e420 about 3 months ago and I love it!

However when I try to use a program that uses the mic its up to chance whether the mic will work. For my webcam software I reboot it about 10 times until the mic starts picking up signals. Sometimes when using the mic the sound in the whole system will cut out and I have to reboot the computer. I have found a way around it by using the mic on my ipod earbuds, programs pick it up as a mic which is nice, but I was wondering If anyone has had a similar problem/knows a fix.

Thanks in advance!!

*EDIT*

If their is an alternate driver to Conexant 20671 SmartAudio HD that works on the Edge 420 I would love to know about it

Do you have the latest version of the Conexant driver? There were a few known issues with earlier revisions.

yep! I updated and It fixed my problem! However I still have a game ( oblivon ) that does not play with the sound card, so I was wondering if there were any other drivers that worked instead of smartaudio?

Also in my devises panel I see "Intel Display Audio" as well as Conexant, is their a way to choose which one to use?

Thanks

The Intel audio device is for HDMI audio out, so you can't really use it.

How is Oblivion not co-operating? Is it just no audio? Maybe try changing some of the ingame settings.
