Changing display output on Thinkpad X1 Carbon 3rd gen with broken display
Hello! I recently picked up an X1 Carbon 3rd gen with a smashed display. However, everything else seems to work, and I can hear a beep when I press F1 to enter the BIOS. I know there's an option to switch the primary POST display in the BIOS, but I can't change it since I can't see anything since the display's been smashed. Does anyone happen to know the exact keystrokes I can input to change this option, or if there's anything else I can do? Thanks so much!

How about attaching an external monitor?
Still NOT a great day for a Guinness! (the Real Black Stuff). And I have TWO (closed) pubs within 500 meters/yards!

Yes, I do believe that when an external display is attached, and the laptop lid is closed, the output will default to the external display, no matter what the setting in the BIOS is. Of course, you will need an external keyboard too, since the lid will be closed. Then you can change the default output setting in the BIOS to external.
