Details of upcoming X1 Extreme (Gen 4) & P1 (Gen 4) traditionally gets announced early summer, so perhaps in just a few months time!

ThinkPad did a wholesale port to 16:10 LCD screens; our recently procured X1 Carbon Gen 9 LCD screen in 16:10 is glorious!

Some of the websites are speculating that X1 Extreme Gen 4 is "expected" to have 16:10 LCD screen.

That said, for those who view stock price candlestick charts a lot, they might find that the wider 16:9 screen might be better on your eyes if you view it frequently,
now that we have 16:10 X1 Carbon Gen 9 to compare it to.

For almost all other users doing office work (MS Excel especially, and web browsing in general), 16:10 screen is much better overall, as more precious vertical space to work with!

With the less expensive ThinkBook line shifting to 16:10 in form of the ThinkBook 16p, I am about 90 % sure the X1 Extreme will also adopt a 16:10 aspect ratio this year. With that, the screen size will probably change to 16 inch as well, since a lot of the recent 16:10 Lenovo machines in this size range have moved to that size - seems like the new standard instead of 15.6 inch.

An unofficial leak showing upcoming (unannounced/unrealeased) X1 Extreme Gen 4 external look only, with 16:10 aspect ratio LCD and Intel CPU.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 leak: Tiger Lake-H, NVIDIA RTX 30 Super Laptop GPUs, FHD webcam, 16:10 4K display.
Reportedly X1E4 also sports a larger 90 Whr battery, as well as an even slimmer chassis!

The P1 variant of this is pretty much the laptop I have been waiting for!! 16" 3:2 would have been even better but this is a big step forward over 16:9.

Only one further ask: AMD Ryzen options with ECC active: better performance and no ludicrous Intel Xeon tax. :) :)
