Carbon X1 Gen 7: What CMOS battery do I need?
Carbon X1 Gen 7: What CMOS battery do I need?
I bought a used Lenovo ThinkPad Carbon X1 Gen 7. It works fine but the CMOS battery is dead. As it looks as if the battery can be exchanged easily as it is in reach when you unscrew the bottom plate I woul like to replace it. Are they still available. And if not what do I need technically to replace it?

Officially you need: RTC Battery,CR2016,Adhesive-D15, P/N: 5B10W13978
But any other CR2016 for a Lenovo laptop will also do the trick.
Worst case: remove the yellow plastic [keep in one piece], tear the contacts off the battery [mark which side!], get a plain CR2016 from the nearest pharmacy/supermarket, straighten the contacts and use some tape to attach the contacts [tightly and to the correct side] to the new battery. Put the old yellow plastic back on and tape that too with e.g. scotch-tape.
