x1c sleeve

#1 Post by ddx » Wed Sep 26, 2012 3:56 pm

Any hints where to get a sleeve for the x1c ?
Looking at the specs for 12W,13W and 14W they won't match the x1c size :

ThinkPad 12W Sleeve Case (51J0476) 275 x 25 x 305 mm
ThinkPad 13W Sleeve Case (57Y4293) 290 x 25 x 345 mm
ThinkPad 14W Sleeve Case (57Y4294) 280 x 25 x 355 mm

X1C: 226x8x331 mm

I am considering a Tom Bihn sleeve. According to the customer service person, the 6Z works.

Looks nice, but 45 dollar for shipping no thanks.

I think I'll go for a custom sleeve from :

the problem is that the carbon is radically small for a 14". I recommend buying 13" sized sleeves. Another problem I ran into, that isn't that bad really, is that the carbon is so thin that the sleeve doesn't fit snugly around it. I've seen sleeves that are marketed specially for ultrabooks, but there are so few of them that there aren't a lot of choices. I have this:

which is a bit big, but I love targus' build quality.
X Series: X1 Carbon
T Series: T30
R Series: R30 R52

I am partial to Waterfield Designs in San Francisco. In particular their SmartCase design (for the 13" MacBook Air) looks nice, fits snugly, and is very protective. It's great whether the laptop is traveling or just lying around the house.

For a little more style there is the leather Outback Sleeve.

The sleeve my wife used for her X201i fits a treat on her X1 Carbon.

Has anybody tried the Thule Sleeve, which was made for the Macbook air (13")?

It looks nice, but is a bit pricey ($50).
