X1C and Window 8.. how does it work
X1C and Window 8.. how does it work
Now that Win 8 has been out awhile, any thoughts on using Win 8 on a non-touch screen??
Read that you can use the track pad as a "screen" for Win 8 swiping. If true, how does that translate into a non-screen method of utilizing the features of Win8.
Thx.

Wow, I guess I won't have to worry about using the trackpad...

Re: X1C and Window 8.. how does it work
I've been running Windows 8 on my X1 Carbon since the day I got it. Windows 8 is by far the best OS I've ever used, including OS X or any Linux, and on the X1 Carbon it is very fast, stable and polished. I would never go back to Windows 7.

Art,
Do you use the touch pad in place of screen touch, or do you use mouse and keyboard only(m/kb).
Guess you'd have to use m/kb for programs/apps like Word and Excel...
My concern.... and maybe I'm just over analyzing this, is that my arm would get tired using touch screen all the time.
X1C looks great... I'd have to add a dock... I see that Lenovo has one out for the X1C, I'd like to get a larger screen too for desktop work.
I don't know if there are touch monitors/screens out there, and a big tabletop touch pad like Apple has out.
Am I asking for too much<g>???

Re: X1C and Window 8.. how does it work
Frank, I have the original X1 Carbon, not the touch model. I wouldn't want a touch screen - I don't want to look at a screen with my dirty fingerprints all over it. I use the Microsoft wedge mouse with my X1 Carbon and its comfortable to me.
Re: X1C and Window 8.. how does it work
Art,
I'm the same way about my screen. I go nuts when people fingerprint it up... Especially people with long nails that tap my screens w their nails. It just freaks me out.
At the office, we use HP laptops w a pointing device, etc. I use my mouse and keyboard. Only time I use the pointer is when I have to "ink," I guess is the term. And that isn't that often.
Have a great Holiday.

I feel exactly the same way. In fact when folks start pointing at my screen I begin to panic; my wife has a lot of fun with this.fjs08 wrote:Art,
