Here's a calibrated ICM profile for X1 Carbon

#1 Post by sbl » Wed Feb 13, 2013 12:58 am

Hello,

I calibrated the Thinkpad X1 Carbon a few weeks ago using a Spyder 3 Pro. Compared to a MacBook Pro Retina , the X1 Carbon color reproduction was by default shockingly bad.

I exported the screen profile as an ICM file, which you can download here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bj454efin4ney ... %20ICM.rar

If you are using Windows 7 or Windows 8 you can install this profile easily into the graphics card driver, which will result in much better color reproduction:

1. Download, un-rar, and double click the ICM file to install it
2. Go to "Device Manager" and make sure your display is "ThinkPad MaxBright Display". If it's Generic PnP monitor, right click it and choose to update driver software automatically.
3. Go to Control Panel -> Color Management
4. Go to Advanced tab -> "Change System Defaults" -> enable [X] Use Windows display calibration. Close this window.
5. Go to Devices tab -> Choose "Display: 1. ThinkPad MaxBright Display" -> [Add] -> Choose ThinkPad X1 Carbon Calibrated
6. Choose it and remove the old generic ICM profile.

Congratulations, your Lenovo X1 Carbon screen is now calibrated and will look much better.

Sincerely
Johan
