Replace X1 screen

#1 Post by 600X » Sat May 25, 2013 7:17 am

Hello,

I really like the X1. It reminds me of the X300, just a bit more modern. I'd really love to have an X1, but instead I'm using an X220i. Why? Obviously because of the IPS screen. There are two dealbreakers on the X1. Battery life (though I could manage I guess) and most importantly: The screen.

Now with all of those 13,3" 16:9 Ultrabooks popping up there should be a suitable screen out there somewhere. So my question to X1 owners is: How hard is it to remove the Gorilla glass and can you put it back in again?

OK guys, so according to the HMM on page 96 ( http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc ... 867_05.pdf ) the screen can be removed but it looks like it's glued to the gorilla glass. Or is it? I can't really tell. Can anyone confirm this?
