It won't turn on and reset pin doesn't do anything either

#1 Post by yuipcheng » Wed Jun 11, 2014 1:06 am

I have a X1C Touch with Windows 8.1 with Update 1 installed. When I was using it today, it shut off all in a sudden by itself while the power was plugged in. Then I pressed on the power button and it does nothing. I notice the glowing green color is no longer there on the power button. None of the indicator lights are on either. Then I pull out a pin to try to reset it, and that doesn't do anything either. The only thing that lights up is the finger print reader. It keeps blinking. I slide my index finger and it blinks twice, a pause and keeps blinking again.

I opened the screws...
- checked main battery, 15 volts, normal
- checked the backup cell battery, 3.2v, normal

Disconnect the battery and power, connect the battery again. The finger print reader doesn't blink. Then press power button, and the finger print reader begins to blink, but still no glowing power button or other indicators. and the screen stays black the whole time. No sound either.

What is wrong? bad fan? bad LCD? or bad mobo? What else can I do to troubleshoot?

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry for your trouble.

Sounds to me like the motherboard.

If there is warranty I would make the call.

That would be bad because the warranty already ran out.

the battery is okay. I checked the voltage and it reads as stated on the package.
