Anyone else think the lid is too heavy,, when mine is halfway closed it slowly goes down until it shuts. Not halfway a little more just wondering if the hinges should be a little stiffer or this is normal.
Also the lid wobbles when using the touchscreen quite a bit. Otherwise this is a nice machine.

no image ghosting on mine but ended up returning it. I didn't like the display (looks dulled) and didn't like the key placements and that touch strip. I am going to wait for the new t4X0s.

my X1 carbon gen 2 whatever is fine in most ways..
display bright and sharp, hinges keep lid wherever I place it..
no ghosting at all and no light bleed either..
only suggestions I have is dump that touch strip.. its way too sensitive.. if I even get close, it registeres as a key press and who know which key..! too many possibilities and no backlight.. I have to look closely at it to see what state it is currently in..
no tactile feedback on it either..
trackpad is just a disaster.. it kills my thumbs and is uncertain as to what it will do when I try to touch one of the mouse buttons..
I can live with the little island type key tops but it is very difficult to live with the arrogance of Lenovo just moving keys around from where they have been for YEARS..
a hint for Lenovo would be to give the customer the option of this new disaster keyboard or the gen 1 X1 keyboard..
and further hint would be to add an easily changed out SSD.. maybe a slot in the side..?
ya think Lenovo cares..? I strongly doubt it.. take a great brand and trash it.. its the lenovo way it seems..
sad..

Don't be sad.
The new X1 Carbon has... none of that. The layout is more traditional, the F-key row has physical buttons, the TrackPoint buttons have returned, and the F-key row is even gapped (although relatively small gaps...)

you think they'll swap this abortion for one with a real keyboard..?
somehow, I think i'm stuck with this..
I don't have the money to replace it..
but its nice to know Lenovo is recognizing their screw-up, at least to a point..

When the new keyboard comes on the market, perhaps you can be the first to swap it.
It can save the gripe of the 2nd gen model, but it may be impossible due to a remapped keyboard and the power button looks like it was removed from it.

fat chance on swapping old crappy for new restored..
from my experience swapping the SSD's in and out and screwing the 6 or 8 screws the whole thing is part of the keyboard assembly..
perhaps I should look at the HMM and see for sure but luck will probably make the swap impossible due to the electronics not being compatible one with the other..
UNLESS Lenovo makes an upgrade or downgrade kit..
maybe i'll get lucky..
just sell the whole d@mn thing and use the T61p..
