x1 bios password

hi guys
i got my hands on a x1 as a gift from a relative
i like to reinstall operating system but it has bios password. i cant get into bios but i can log into windows w/o any problem. is there any way to reset bios passwd from windows ?

No.

Please note that any discussion of password-cracking-techniques is forbidden by forum rules.

My suggestion would be to get the password from the previous owner.

From the hardware manual:

Attention: If the supervisor password has been forgotten and cannot be made available to the service
technician, there is no service procedure to reset the password. The system board must be replaced for
a scheduled fee.


So get it from the previous owner :)
