Which WLAN adapter for 3rd gen. X1 Carbon?

When looking at specs in the latest tabook.pdf, I see the following WLAN adapters:



When configuring an X1 Carbon on-line at shop.lenovo.com, OTOH, the adapters listed are the following:



My question is: is the adapter listed as "11ac, Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265" in tabook.pdf the same as the one listed as "Intel 7265 AC/B/G/N Dual Band Wireless" at shop.lenovo.com? In other words, does it support not only AC, but also B, G and N? If so, what's the point in picking up one of the other two options (Intel 7265 A/B/G/N, Intel 7265 BGN)?

Btw, what does "2x2" mean in tabook.pdf?

Yes, the adapter listed as "11ac, Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265" is the same as the one listed as "Intel 7265 AC/B/G/N Dual Band Wireless".
I suggest you to take this adapter, because the other two are lower end options.

2x2 refers to the number of transmit and receive radio chains built into the adapter.

Thanks! My current router is an Asus DSL-N16U, which doesn't support ac. How much more speed would I get in real-life conditions (eg. when accessing my NAS) by going for a newer router?

Are there specific features I need to watch in the router, for instance for optimal performance/compatibility with the 2x2 transmit/receive feature of the X1C's WLAN adapter? For instance, in this router, Asus claims: "RT-AC3200 uses two 802.11ac networks, each with a three transmit, three receive (3x3) antenna configuration. This is made possible by its six external high performance antennas, and allows more devices to connect faster with better stability."
