New X1 Carbon (2015) Question - Touch vs. No Touch

Hey guys - my work just got me the new 2015 X1 Carbon after returning my two week old 2nd gen X1 Carbon. The touch F1 keys on the 2nd generation were a non-starter for me as I use Excel a ton.

Anyway, I just got the 2015 version and they got me the touch screen version. I asked why and they said it is the only version that comes with the physical F1 keys. Is that true? That doesn't make sense to me? I basically just want the basic model with the normal screen, and F1 keys! Ugh - I feel like I'm asking the world but I just want the same keyboard as my 1st generation X1 carbon (though I do like the new docking port!).

I'd keep the touch and not rock the boat. Just MHO.

Yeah that's what I'm leaning toward...it's not actually too bad! The touchscreen that is.

I would keep the touch as well..
I find myself stabbing at the display (think using a tablet2 or iPad) when I want some quick action rather than move the cursor and struggling to find the left mouse button on my gen 2 X1..

Yep, keep the touch model. I think you'll find yourself using the feature now and again even if you primarily use the TrackPoint. I certainly do.

And to reiterate, all Gen3 Carbons have the physical F keys.

Cheers.

Personally, I'd rather scratch my eyeballs out than deal with the glare associated with a touch screen, but that's me. I have never once had a desire to touch my screen.

The Gen3's touch screen isn't too glossy at all, IMHO. It's got some kind of anti-glare film factory applied. It's certainly not glossy like my Y3P or Helix LCDs.

Cheers.
