X1 Carbon (3rd Gen)-Removed Anti Glare Film

#1 Post by centerfield » Sun Apr 26, 2015 5:13 pm

I've had the X1C (3rd Gen) about 4 weeks and was about to sell it because of the fuzzy screen and dim brightness. I otherwise love the laptop. Today I was looking at the screen and noticed you could see the anti glare film at the border. I took a razor blade, peeled back a corner and it came right off in under a minute. What a tremendous difference it made. The text is now clear and the screen not as dim. I will gladly deal with the glossy screen and I suppose if I get tired of it, I can always buy a 3rd party screen protector. It truly solved all my issues.

I hope this helps for others having the same issues or who are on the fence about whether to purchase or not.

Would it be possible for you to share a picture of the screen after removing the film?
My 3rd gen X1 Carbon is arriving in two days, and I'm kinda on the fence about removing the film.

As ChugokuOtaku has had no reply I'd be interested in anyone's comments as I have just ordered a top of the range X1 Carbon 3rd Generation to replace my wife's 1st Generation model ... which has been a huge success. Her old machine's warranty expires in October so time to move on!

I also removed the plastic film from the screen, but wasn't aware it was intended to stay there. Whatever, the screen display is much improved but it's sticky from the plastic residue. Any recommendations for cleaning the screen?
