X1 Carbon (20BS, 3rd Gen) and Onelink Pro Dock

I have onelink pro dock (now my third replacement), model (DU9033S1) with Lenovo X1 Carbon, third gen (20BS). PC and Dock at current firmware levels, software up to date. The Dock will not boot if my Ethernet cable is plugged in when booting; the PC freezes at the LENOVO logo during boot. Booting with Ethernet cable unplugged, once booted all works fine, but every time I shutdown or reboot, I have to unplug the Ethernet cable and plug in after the Carbon has booted to windows 8.1. Have spoken to Lenovo Hardware support (why I have now a third replacement dock) and with Lenovo/IBM Premium software support. All scratching their heads why this dock does not work if the Ethernet cable is plugged in. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried the dock and computer in another house/location. To make sure that it's not serious grounding issues in your house?

Other than that:
The computer/dock connector might be damaged?
Have you tried with the ethernet plug connected to another laptop (preferably just running on batteries), and not a switch?

When exchanging the onelink pro docks, have you also exchanged the power supplies?
