Found a good deal on an X1 (not carbon)

Hi all,
Got what appears to be a smoking deal on a original X1 on craigslist for ~$250. I don't know a lot about X1's and I know most people suggest the carbon over it. Regardless, I wanted to stick w/ thinkpads (and not a lot are available in my area) and liked the form factor of the X1 series. I'm upgrading from an old X61s and figured i could swap over my SSD and be good to go for another 5-6 years... Thoughts? Any concerns with swapping out the SSD? Looks like they are going for north of $400 on ebay...
Thanks
CB

Welcome to the forum, chrmbly

Sounds like a good deal to me. If it is legitimate, jump on it

Care to point to the source where we can get more of those?

Well - here's the CL post. Ultimately I doubt many people here in old Indiana care so much about Thinkpads. That being said I got a smoking deal on aforementioned X61s when I lived in Connecticut (like $200-250 back in 2008 or so) came with the ultrabay and everything. I emailed him and asked if he'd take $250 and he agreed. Going to pick it up today, so we'll see i guess.
I've been a long time lurker, just never joined up. Forum is a great help for older Thinkpads - because of you guys I extended the life of the X61s with Middleton's BIOS and putting in an SSD. Still runs great even though it's almost 10 years old.

Very nicely done.
There is one memory slot so if your X1 doesn't have 8Gb you could swap out the 4Gb chip for an 8Gb chip.

Hey Brad -
Thanks. Yep she's running great. The real deal. Battery still seems to have some juice too. Yay!
Now, what to do with the ol' X61S... Debating swapping out the SSD from it into the new X1... except it seems pretty peppy as is compared to my old girl. I can probably hold off on that for a while. For now though, wow the screen is nice!
Thanks guys - I'm sure I'll have some questions for you. I definitely caught the whole needing to disable the battery in the bios prior to messing with an SSD, etc. That sounds like a horror story!

Old and new - just said goodbye to my X61s today to a forum member! Put the SSD in the X1 and she's running great. 8 GB DIMM en route.
